except A 除掉A，不包括A在内; besides A 除掉A 以外还有，包括A 在内。
except for +n / except that +从句，对整体概括说明，在细节上补充修正
eg: The boy is good except for his carelessness
= The boy is good except that he is careless.
American and England are two countries divided by a common language.
divide…..into……. 把整体分成若干部分
separate…… from……把连在一起的分开
eg: Please divide our class into 4 groups.
I’ll separate the bad apples from the good ones.
