Thoughhergrandmotherhadleft,severalotherfamilymembers,includingGee’suncle andhiswife,hadstayedbehind.Afterspottingthemessage,GeetoldBay County Emergency Services,whowenttothehouseatabout2a.m.onSunday andwereabletorescue thosewho were trapped in the house.
“Apparently,they hadtocutthroughalotofdownedtreestogetthere,”GeetoldABC News.Heruncle,Ermest,hadreportedly usedwoodfromoneofthosetreestospelloutthe message.
Aftertherescue,Bay CountyEmergency ServicespostedtheincidentontheirFacebook page,saying,thisisanincrediblestory ofhowpeopleareworkingtogetherinthissituation. SomeonefromanothercountywasusingthemappingapptocheckpropertyinruralBay County andnoticedtheword“help”spelledoutinthegrassinlogs.Thatpersonimmediately contacted us and sent thepicture and we sentoutneededassistance.
Meanwhile,Geesayssheisthankfulthatshewasableto usethemappingtooltogether family tosafety.“Thehurricanehasturnedeverythingupsidedowneverywhere,”shesaid. “Someweremorefortunatethanothers.I’mjusthappy thateverybody issafeandsoundand, hopefully, soon we willallget through this togetherand recover fromthis storm.”
