资源简介
A small tornado swept through Moore,Oklahoma on March 25,2015.The National Weather Service said a brief, weak tornado struck the region. It also reported cars were overturned on Interstate 35,a major northsouth Interstate Highway in the central United States, and now it has already been closed.
On Wednesday night, survivors in Moore,Oklahoma were fearful.Thursday, these feelings turned to great bravery and the inhabitants of this region worked together to move forward from yet another destructive tornado.
It was an unusual morning for Ashley Steelman and her family.“The kid's play room,” she said,“is gone.”The home that held 40 years of memories inside now looks like a child's diorama. Now the house without a roof,a look inside tells the tornado's damage.Steelman's grandmother,Joetta Strain, survived the storm by hiding in the closet.“I could feel the suction,”she said.“I thought it was going to suck me out,but it didn't.I guess I got more strength than I thought.”
Another survivor in Moore,Brenda Chavez, found strength, too.“I lost my memory, honestly,” she said.“I was so nervous and scared.” Like her neighbor,Brenda Chavez survived in a closet too.The morning after, she was left with nothing. The roof of her home also gave way.“We just felt the roaring and it just started dropping water and ice,the little ice balls, but we survived the tornado.” she said.
There was no death during the dark night as the tornado tore through Moore. But,in the daylight, the cutting reality was easily seen in the town, which has already been hit by tornados for several times in recent years.
“It's just going in circles in my head, just thanking God I'm here and alive,” Chavez said.About half a dozen homes on Chavez's street had their roofs ripped off.The governor of Oklahoma visited the area Thursday to help make a judgment about the damage.
