A
Last Sunday, I walked into the house. As soon as I took my coat off, my brother placed many pieces of paper in my hands and asked if I could start folding them up so they could be put into envelopes. He said it needed to get done quickly before it turned dark.
I guessed it was probably something for his business and just got right to it, although I was a little surprised that something could be so urgent on a Sunday. It wasn’t until I was halfway through that I actually looked at what I was folding. It was a lovely letter to all the residents of my street and the nearby streets in my neighborhood. My brother was asking everyone to let him know if anyone needed help to get food, medicine or other necessities. He left his contact information there and said that anyone who needed help should get in touch with him and that he would figure something out. And if anyone was able to help out, he would coordinate(协调)it.
The town we lived in received an unusual amount of snow last week. Only the major roads had been cleared, and smaller roads could be very dangerous. There are a good number of old people in our little community and my brother thought that the snow might have created some difficulty for some of them, particularly because we live on a hill.
Everyone was really touched by his kind behavior and wrote wonderful emails. One of our neighbors wrote an email to him, saying that she was very proud of having a neighbor like him who puts other people’s interests first.
My brother was highly praised by our neighbors. I felt very happy that my brother could do such meaningful things. I love living in a street that has such a wonderful sense of community!
